What is RoHS?
The Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive (RoHS), also commonly referred to as the "lead-free" directive, restricts the use of six hazardous materials in the manufacture of various types of electronic and electrical equipment. Adopted in February 2003 by the European Union, the RoHS directive takes effect on July 1, 2006. While the RoHS directive is not a law, it is a serious attempt to control the amount of toxic waste that finds its way into our environment.
RoHS restricts the use of the following six substances:
- Lead
- Mercury
- Cadmium
- Chromium VI (Also known as hexavalent chromium
- PBB
- PBDE

Corvalent certifies that, to the best of its knowledge and belief, the products designated to be RoHS compliant conform to the requirements of the European Union Restriction on the use of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) Directive, 2002/95/EC, as indicated in the table below.

Corvalent RoHS Marks
All Corvalent products that are RoHS compliant will carry one of our official RoHS marks (shown below).
The RoHS Compliant mark is displayed on the compliant products' Web page and datasheet. You may also find the Pb-Free mark on literature and applied to the compliant board.

| A: | The product and all product datasheets will carry an official RoHS mark. Refer to the Corvalent RoHS Marks section of this page. |
| Q: | Will we be able to participate in a last time buy before our product is converted to RoHS compliant? |
| A: | Yes. You will be notified when the SnPb (non-RoHS) versions of your products qualify for a last time buy. |
| Q: | Will RoHS compliance affect the cost of the product? |
| A: | No, product pricing will not be affected. |
| Q: | How will RoHS compliance affect part numbers? |
| A: | The letter “Z” will be added to the end of all current product part numbers to signify that it is a RoHS-compliant product. Example: FI-RBXAX-APC01Z |
